A lot of trouble can happen when you travel.

A man who flew from Australia to South Korea caused a stir on TikTok with an angry speech.

Douglas Lazickirk is not inexperienced when it comes to traveling - on the contrary.

The Australian has already traveled around the world quite a bit and, according to his own statement, has already been to more than 160 countries - he definitely doesn't suffer from a fear of flying.

On his TikTok account he takes users on his adventures under the name “onlytravel” and has collected numerous followers - over 6,500 people (as of March 6, 2024) already follow him.

Australian reports on TikTok about flight trip to South Korea

At the end of February, the Australian uploaded a video in which he reported on his trip from Sidney to Seoul (South Korea) with the airline “Jetstar Airways-Australia”.

Over 24,000 people have already seen the clip (as of March 6, 2024).

The first minor problem arose when the man wanted to pay for the lasagne he had purchased because his card was apparently not accepted.

He then pulled out another card, which was accepted by the device.

“Later, the exact same thing happened to a man near me.

He also wanted to pay for his meal, but his first card wasn't accepted either, so he paid with a second card." Coincidence?

Lazickirk doesn't really believe that.

Because the annoying thing: “When we landed in South Korea, I checked my bank account and amounts were withdrawn twice - with both cards,” complains the Australian and continues: “Did this happen to the man next to me and with how many People have they done this so far?”

Lazickirk immediately contacted the airline, which then told him that it would get back to him within 15 working days.

“That's three weeks, I expect it will take over a month until I get my money back,” says the TikToker and turns to his community: “Has this happened to anyone else?

This is just cheating!”

Airline charges five dollars for a pen

The Australian brings with him another anecdote from this trip, which also cost him money.

When he had to fill out the documents required to enter South Korea, he noticed that he didn't have a pen with him.

When he asked a lady on board if she could lend him her pen for a moment, she said no and pointed out that he could buy a pen for five dollars, which he did - although confused by the crew member's stubbornness did.

Several international newspapers also reported on the strange incident.

By the way, flight attendants strongly advise against a TikTok trend that has gone viral.

In the comments under the video, users expressed their displeasure with the airline's behavior, but also partially defended the employee's behavior when it came to borrowing the pen:

  • “Your first mistake was booking with Jetstar in the first place.”

  • “The crew needs the pen, often the employees only have one with them.

Often the pen doesn’t come back to them.”

  • “Go to your bank, they will get your money back.”

  • “It’s good that you exposed them.

Always ask for a rejection receipt to prove it didn’t go through.”

  • “The problem is that passengers always 'forget' to return the pen.

And the crew must have one in case the pilots give an emergency instruction.”
