A 28-year-old woman, already known for the same acts, was taken into police custody and then released while awaiting her trial. The 30 Mi association financially supported the autopsy of the dog and the cremation of the animals found. “We had already had a report when this person lived in Quimper,” says Clara Laouenan, an investigator in Finistère on behalf of the animal protection association 30 Millions d'amis, sadly.

She then moved to Douarnenez, where reports - without follow-up - of animal abuse were made by people in the neighborhood.

And I bet you that soon she will move somewhere else again and it will start again.”

Three weeks after the conclusion of the investigation, many Finisterians and animal lovers remain speechless regarding these acts of violence against animals.

On January 11, walkers were shocked to discover the lifeless bodies of a dog and two parakeets in two plastic bags, buried under a wooden pallet, along the Kerbiguet road, near the Kerguesten mill.

The investigation, carried out by the gendarmerie services and the municipal police, led them to the worrying profile of a young woman of 28 years old, unemployed, known unfavorably to the authorities for other reasons.

According to our information, she has already had custody of her children taken away and has been known for years for similar acts of animal abuse (remaining only in reports and therefore not brought to justice).

First in Quimper where she previously resided, then in Douarnenez.

She was taken into custody and then released after being questioned.

She is today warned of the facts of “serious abuse and acts of cruelty (on animals) leading to death”.

The suspect allegedly regularly used violence against his two dogs, causing noise at night and during the day which quickly caused concern in the neighborhood.

The young woman was allegedly seen hitting them on the balcony, in front of everyone, and went so far as to leave them locked in her home for 15 days.

Reports from residents of the area would therefore have been brought to the ears of the municipal police and 30 Million Friends at the end of 2023.

Repeated violence

The autopsy report, carried by 30 Million Friends following the discovery of the corpses, is final.

The dog, an American Bully-type crossbreed, whose name was Calipso, presented “cachexia” and “muscular and subcutaneous hematomas” in the thorax and abdomen “compatible with trauma and sudden shocks”.

In this case, repeated violence;

contrary to what she declared to the authorities that her dog had “died of old age”…

Accompanied by the municipal gendarmes and police officers, the 30 Million Friends Foundation rescued another dog from the woman's home, Stella (another Bully), two cats and four parakeets.

The survivors were taken in by a partner shelter.

And good news, Stella has already been adopted by a foster family.

The legal department of 30 Millions d'Amis has confirmed a complaint filed on behalf of the Foundation and will therefore become a civil party in this case when the hearing date is known at the Quimper court.

The association financially supported the autopsy of the dog and the cremation of the animals found.

“This is unfortunately not an isolated case,” says 30 million friends.

People should not hesitate, when they see this type of behavior which is more than worrying, to report it to us.

It’s anonymous and can sometimes prevent these kinds of cruel acts.”
