The schools were a little surprised, as were the businesses.
When The Bachelor began to develop, the argument was clear.
This diploma had to meet the expectations of students who did not feel like embarking on studies that were too long, preferring to quickly join the job market.
Those of companies too, which deplored the lack of middle manager profiles.
Bachelor graduates – well trained, with a few internships and a little less demanding in terms of remuneration – ticked all their boxes.
However, the students decided otherwise.
Among the schools appearing in our ranking, the majority of graduates, sometimes more than three-quarters, decide to continue their studies.
“When they arrive with us, 40% of students say they want to work after their bachelor’s degree.
Ultimately, only 20% do so,” confirms Wil liam Hurst, general director of EDC Paris.
Sales bonus
But what positions are open to those who want to work?
“There are quite a few options!”
», notes Onélia Lamarre, director of corporate relations at Excelia, in La Rochelle (Charente Maritime).
Among the 25% of bachelor's graduates who choose a working life, 60% find a job straight away.
“The job market is in tension.
This pushes companies to broaden their recruiting scope.
The difference between bachelor’s and master’s tends to blur,” she assures.
The shortage is particularly acute in commercial functions.
Customer service representatives and salespeople are sought after in all areas.
In marketing, a bac + 3 can, for example, join the role of assistant product manager, then progress subsequently.

In terms of salaries, the schools contacted indicate an average remuneration of around 30,000 to 33,000 euros gross annually, which can rise if it includes a variable element, which is often the case for salespeople.
For comparison, the average remuneration of bac + 5 graduates from business school is close to 40,000 euros gross.
That's a difference of around 20%.
“The salary level depends a lot on the city where you are and the sector in which you work,” explains Onélia Lamarre.
In finance, for example, it will be higher.

Prioritize SMEs
Except that financial professions are difficult to open to bachelor profiles.
Director of recruitment at Robert Half, Aurélien Boucly is in charge of finance and management positions.
However, he assures us: “None of our clients ask us for a bac + 3 profile. This is not training designed for these professions.
» Unless they are ready to move, other countries attach less importance to original training.

On the other hand, banking (excluding finance, therefore) and insurance highly appreciate these newly graduated intermediate profiles.
“It would be a lie to say that you can find exactly the same jobs by studying two years less.
But many offers are on the table, particularly in SMEs with 100 to 250 employees.
They are the ones who concentrate the bulk of the market for bins + 3,” adds William Hurst.
Experience above all
“Even if they weigh in the balance, not everything comes from your studies!
You have to love working, first of all.
And dare,” invites Thibault Breuillé.
In 2018, after his bachelor's degree in tourism management at South Champagne Business School (formerly ESC Troyes), he found his first job on a farm in Ecuador.
He had barely returned to France when the health crisis froze hiring in the tourism sector.
“With the pandemic behind us, I quickly found a position, one with responsibility,” relates Thibault Breuillé.
He now manages the Grand Autunois Morvan tourist office, in Autun (Saône-et-Loire).
From now on, he is the one who recruits.
“When I see that a candidate started working young, that’s an excellent sign for me.
Whether in your life, in a summer job, through internships and work-study programs, all of this is precious to me.
» Above all, he advises students not to hold back and to take advantage of their studies to test out courses and increase their experiences.
“I myself was full of certainties.
My last internship, in South Africa, shook up my life.
I was no longer the same,” confides Thibault Breuillé.
Because if the diploma is important, the experience is worth something.
