In the second episode of the new “Kitchen Impossible” season, professional chef Tim Mälzer is already threatening to drop out.
The reason for this is an ingredient that the TV chef suspects is animal cruelty.
Munich – In the ninth season of the Vox cooking show “Kitchen Impossible”, professional chef Tim Mälzer (53) reaches his limits in the second episode.
When preparing the classic sweetbread Rumohr with Albufera sauce, the TV chef threatens to throw in the towel.
The reason for this is an ingredient that Mälzer suspects is animal cruelty.

“The Mona Lisa for dinner.
Spectacular and perfectly prepared,” Mälzer enthuses at the start of his task.
Colleague Hans Jörg Bachmeier (57) would like the 53-year-old to produce a classic created by Eckart Witzigmann (82).
This is a kind of pate made from various ingredients, including truffles and liver – and this is exactly where the problem lies for TV chef Mälzer.
He suspects that the liver used in the dish is foie gras.

To produce this, a metal tube is inserted into the animals' throats several times a day in order to increase their feed intake and cause the liver to become fatty.
“Then unfortunately I can’t do this task,” explains Mälzer.
The chef sees himself as having a special responsibility “whether certain products remain on the market or not”.
However, Mälzer's colleague Bachmeier gave the all-clear: "It's duck liver, and in that sense not foie gras," said the challenger.
So Mälzer can breathe a sigh of relief – and start preparing three versions of the sweetbreads.

In a total of eight new episodes, star chef Tim Mälzer has to prove himself in the local kitchen in the current season of “Kitchen Impossible” and cook local specialties without knowing the exact list of ingredients.
A special feature of the ninth season are the three “Special” episodes: New challenges await the TV chef in the “Baltic Edition”, the “Hamburg Edition” and the “Best Friends Edition”.

The ninth season of “Kitchen Impossible” runs every Sunday from 8:15 p.m. on Vox, with the exception of Easter Sunday, March 31st.
The new episodes are available one week before they are broadcast on RTL+.
There was an incident in the first episode: Tim Mälzer threatened to fail a “Kitchen Impossible” task and gave up.
