The weekend in Franconia will be like spring, on Sunday the thermometer will climb to 15 degrees.

But winter could make another comeback.

Nuremberg - There was an onset of winter in parts of Bavaria over the course of the week.

In some cases, up to 40 centimeters of fresh snow was predicted.

However, Franconia was spared from this, even though colder air will be noticeable there on Thursday, March 7th.

The reason is a Scandinavian high.

Weather in Franconia: Up to 15 degrees on Sunday - Sahara dust in Bavaria

It will initially be very cloudy on Thursday, but it will clear up as the day progresses.

At times the sun will even shine at a maximum of 11 degrees, as weather expert Stefan Ochs (

wetterochs.de

) reports in his forecast for the Regnitz region.

“From Friday to Sunday, the surface wind continues to blow from the east (fresh gusts), while above 800 m, mild and dry foehn air spreads from the Alps to the north,” said Ochs.

It will remain intermittently cloudy with longer spells of clear weather.

The daily maximum temperatures climb from 10 degrees on Friday to up to 15 degrees on Sunday.

“At high altitudes we get a surge of Saharan dust, the density of which is at the limit of the formation of veil clouds,” said the weather expert.

The temperatures in Franconia climb up to 15 degrees, but after that cold arctic air could come.

After spring-like temperatures in Franconia, arctic cold air?

The further weather developments for the coming week are still unclear.

In some variants (20%) there is an arctic cold air advance.

“In a certain sense that would even be desirable.

Spring won't go well without a cold snap anyway, and it's better now, when there's no risk of major frost damage to the plants," concludes Ochs.
