The mayors of Miesbach, Fischbachau and Irschenberg continue to support the closure of the Deininger Berg in one direction - for various reasons.

Fischbachau/Irschenberg

– The district office apparently surprised the communities of Fischbachau, Irschenberg and the city of Miesbach with the assessment that a one-way regulation on Deininger Berg would be inadmissible given the current situation.

The three affected municipalities want to continue to close the road in one direction.

The mayors make this clear to our newspaper.

Fischbachau town hall boss Stefan Deingruber emphasizes that the community had already had a “verbal promise” from the district office in February 2023 that the one-way rule was permissible.

The authorities have stated that they have no objection if Fischbachau and Irschenberg agree on the direction of travel.

And that will probably happen soon, adds Deingruber.

The local council only made its decision based on the statement from the district office.

Regardless of this, the new regulation is a “must” - because of the drinking water protection, which the city of Miesbach, through whose water catchment area the road runs, has pointed out.

“That was the initial spark,” says Deingruber.

Miesbach's mayor Gerhard Braunmiller confirms this: "We have initiated this." The water management office had already pointed out to the district office in December 2022 that the Deininger Berg "must be designated as a one-way street" for precautionary reasons in order to avoid dangerous situations - especially with oncoming traffic. and “must be closed to through traffic,” quotes Miesbach’s mayor Gerhard Braunmiller.

The city also made the two communities aware of this in writing in April 2023, adds Miesbach's building authority manager Lutz Breitwieser.

Information from the Lower Transport Authority came at the end of February

According to Deingruber, the district office has now been asked about the signage, although its response on February 26th overlapped so much with the most recent local council meeting that he didn't know anything about it there.

From Deingruber's point of view, this doesn't change the fact that there has to be a one-way street.

Irschenberg's mayor Klaus Meixner also wants to stick to it.

He brought the idea to the table years ago, he recalls.

“It’s also about protecting the residents and the street.” The traffic situation is “no longer fun.”

He found out about the district office's assessment via email a few days ago.

Because he does not agree with the arguments and discussions are still pending, the issue has not yet been publicly communicated.

A local council meeting has not taken place since then, says Meixner.

Irschenberg's mayor also believes water protection is important

In terms of content, his assessment and that of the authority also differ with regard to water protection.

Adjusting the road gradient and guardrails, as suggested by the district office, is not enough.

Drainage would then be necessary, which would result in high costs, says Meixner.

The existing speed limit does not improve the situation either.

“If you drive 30, you’ll get to it very quickly.” The traffic passes “two meters past the front doors”.

This situation should now be proven by a two to four week traffic count.

Then there should be more clarity in this aspect at Deininger Berg.
