How far has the Department for Education and Sport (RBS) actually progressed with its plans for the new construction of the district sports facility on Westpreußenstrasse in Bogenhausen?
The Bogenhausen District Committee (BA) is asking itself this question.
After several meetings, it became clear that “the current planning was carried out completely without checking both planning law and environmentally friendly aspects,” said Christiane Hacker (SPD).

CSU wants to avoid provisional measures
The SPD also wants to know whether a two-story development would be possible, whether the additional changing rooms could be built above the parking lot or an underground car park and whether the innkeeper could be offered an interim location during the construction period.
The CSU, on the other hand, demands that planning be carried out in such a way that the restaurant can move directly to its new building in order to avoid costly temporary arrangements and double moves.
“Under no circumstances should new planning be carried out, it takes too much time,” said Green Party councilor Angelika Pilz-Strasser.
“We want the renovation to be done soon, gender-friendly, inclusive and with restaurants.” However, it was always clear that there would be no restaurants during the renovation, so there is no need for an interim.
And no underground parking, because with additional parking options, athletes would increasingly arrive by car, which would cause additional traffic, said the Green politician.
Criticism: District sports facility without any parking facilities
The SPD criticized that if the parking lot were to be built over and a wide cycle path was planned to be installed in front of the facility, which would eliminate all sidewalk parking spaces on Englschalkinger Straße, the result would be a district sports facility without any parking options.
Especially with the many youth soccer tournaments, this could mean a lot of parking pressure for the neighboring residential areas and thus trouble for the athletes.
In addition, the sports office had already stated at the meeting with the BA and the sports club that it wanted to examine a multi-story development.
“The RBS has been thinking about replanning for a long time,” concluded CSU city councilor Jens Luther.
The plans have obviously not progressed that far yet.
The club restaurant should be preserved
The city council approved the new construction of the Bogenhausen sports facility in the fall as part of the fourth sports construction program.
It was also unanimously decided that there should no longer be any restaurants on the site in the future.

The city leadership then ordered that the club restaurant should be preserved.
