This looks like a relaxation.
A bill currently under debate in the National Assembly aims to call into question the legislation governing driving licenses.
It would allow certain road users, who identify as “road professionals”, to more easily recover lost points on their licenses.
They could follow a road awareness course twice a year, instead of currently only once every year.
To convince of the merits of the bill proposed by Pierre Morel-À-L'Huissier, deputy for Lozère, the signatory parliamentarians note that the driving license is a real working tool for road professionals and that its Loss most often leads to a cessation of their professional activity.
There are almost 100,000 licenses invalidated each year and nearly 13 million points withdrawn over the same period.
They are more than others constantly exposed to the risk of having their license invalidated due to zero points and most often due to a succession of minor infractions of the Highway Code.
This bill therefore aims to open up the possibility of doing a second points recovery course per year for certain professionals.
If this law is adopted it should only concern road professionals.
