Oil reserves of between 1 billion and 1.5 billion barrels have been discovered by Eni in the sea off the Ivory Coast.
The field, called Calao, is located approximately 45 kilometers from the coast and reaches a depth of 5,000 meters in 2,200 meters of water depth.
Eni manages the block in partnership with Petroci Holding.
The President of the Republic of Ivory Coast, Alassane Ouattara, and the CEO of Eni Claudio Descalzi met today in Abidjan to discuss the company's activities in the country.
The meeting was also attended by Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé and the Minister of Mines, Oil and Energy, Mamadou Sangafowa-Coulibaly.
President Ouattara and CEO Descalzi spoke about the estimates and development plans of the discovery, and about Eni's commitment to satisfying the country's internal needs.
Eni has been operating in Côte d'Ivoire since 2015. It currently has a production of approximately 22,000 barrels per day from the Baleine field, which entered production in August 2023, and participates with Petroci Holding in the exploitation of six deepwater blocks.
