Easter is just around the corner - the spring festival will be celebrated at the end of March this year.
A winter comeback is not that unlikely during this period.
Experts are tightening their forecasts.
Icy cold with lots of snow is probably the kind of weather many people would want for Christmas.
But this year the winter conditions could affect Easter much more.
After all, the 2024 spring celebration is particularly early in the calendar.
The first colorful Easter eggs can be searched for as early as the end of March.
But what will the weather be like?
When is Easter celebrated?
The date of Easter can vary each year because it depends on the path of the moon.
Easter is traditionally celebrated on the Sunday after the first full moon of spring.
In 2024, Easter Sunday falls on March 31st and Easter Monday will be celebrated on April 1st.
Weather experts had already made their first Easter forecasts at the beginning of the month.
However, these were based on the long-term calculations of the various weather models and were therefore very meaningless.
However, the closer Easter gets, the more concrete the forecasts become.
And some of them are icy.
Mild like spring or bitterly cold and frosty?
March can't decide
So far, however, March has shown its milder side.
After a spring-like start on the first weekend of the month, the temperatures have dropped slightly again, but next weekend it will be spring-like mild again.
Up to 16 degrees are possible on Saturday and Sunday - with bright sunshine.
There could be a cold air outbreak in Germany at Easter.

But weather experts are predicting a rapid drop in temperatures next week.
Both the American and European weather models predict a flood of Arctic air masses over Germany in the middle of the month.
Bitterly cold 15 degrees below zero should then be possible!

But March typically falls into a particularly changeable time of year - so will things continue to be turbulent until Easter?
According to Kathy Schrey, weather expert for the “wetter.net” portal, the winter weather situation could become established in Germany.
Calculations from the American model “CFS” show: A high pressure area is pushing over the British Isles shortly before Easter.
In combination with the predicted low pressure area over the Baltics, this could lead to a cold snap in Germany.

But so far the forecasts are still quite vague.
The weather expert emphasizes that the chance of a winter Easter is around 50 percent.
Nevertheless, it exists.
The closer Easter gets, the more concrete the weather can be predicted.
