After several years, the Mürnsee forest kindergarten's search for a new location could be over.

The Benediktbeuern building committee has given the green light for a location at the Alpenwarmbad.

But not all hurdles have been overcome.

And time is running out.

Benediktbeuern -

The forest kindergarten in the Bad Heilbrunner district of Mürnsee was founded in 2018 on the initiative of parents from Bad Heilbrunn and Benediktbeuern.

Since 2020 it has been clear that the facility cannot remain in its current location.

The municipality of Bad Heilbrunn is planning to build a new fire station there.

The search for an alternative location has been in full swing ever since.

Now a place could finally be found for the facility, which is sponsored by the Albert Schweitzer Family Works from Königsdorf: on a community-owned property in the immediate vicinity of the Benediktbeuren Alpine Warmbad.

At their most recent meeting, the members of the Benediktbeuren building committee had to discuss a corresponding building application from the owner.

This involves setting up a yurt as shelter and two dry toilets, as building authority manager Robby Wagenknecht explained.

The yurt, which is to be moved from the Mürnsee location to the monastery village, has a diameter of around six meters and rests on piles.

Initial discussions with state forests were positive

Mayor Anton Ortlieb praised the good cooperation between the two municipalities regarding the forest kindergarten in recent years and emphasized the importance of the small facility, which currently looks after around 20 children from the two municipalities.

This type of kindergarten is “a good niche” and helps to ease the tense situation due to the shortage of kindergarten places.

“We can be happy if we can offer places.”

There is pressure in the boiler

Mayor Anton Ortlieb

In his opinion, the location at the Alpenwarmbad would be “a location worth considering”.

The necessary parking spaces for the educators could be reserved in the immediate vicinity in the swimming pool parking lot.

Parents could also park their cars here when they drop off and pick up their children.

And if a storm threatens, children and adults can quickly seek safety in the swimming pool hall.

The yurt is “quite comfortably furnished” and can be heated with a stove when it is cold.

This has also been “approved in terms of fire protection”.

Before the forest kindergarten can move, a contract must be concluded with the Bavarian State Forests so that the little ones in the kindergarten can also access the forest around the meadow area.

This includes, among other things, the obligation to ensure traffic safety, explained Wagenknecht.

Initial discussions with those responsible were positive, said Ortlieb.

This is not the first facility of this kind for the state forests to use its forests.

As the mayor emphasized, a new location for the forest kindergarten must be found as quickly as possible.

The move must also take place “as quickly as possible”.

The building application for the new fire station in Mürnsee has already been approved and tenders are ongoing.

“There’s pressure in the boiler.”

Building committee unanimously approves the application

It is still unclear whether the location is really the desired solution.

The agricultural area is located outside.

Erecting permanent buildings is not conceivable here, says Ortlieb.

But exceptions for non-permanent buildings are possible.

“But many people have a say.” Among other things, nature conservation must agree.

And that too as quickly as possible.

“That’s the bottleneck,” Ortlieb is aware.

Provided that a contract with the Bavarian State Forests is concluded, the building committee unanimously gave the green light for the construction of the yurt.

“It would be desirable for it to work,” emphasized Dorothea Bugl (FBM).

According to Ortlieb, the yurt move will take place during the holidays.

Which ones are currently still open.
