There are still a good three and a half months until the big festival - and preparations for the celebrations to mark the 100th anniversary of the Bavarian Red Cross's (BRK) standby service in Holzkirchen are in full swing.

The anniversary will be celebrated in June with a big party in the Herdergarten.

Holzkirchen

– The anticipation of the anniversary also characterized the recently held annual general meeting.

The mood was “exuberant,” reports on-call manager Elisabeth Proisl.

There are still bureaucratic matters to be dealt with, as the on-call manager says.

This is how you apply for the pageant and an ascent permit for a drone flight.

The drone will shoot a video as a lasting reminder of the anniversary.

360 clubs have already registered for the pageant.

The on-call manager reports that the program is being worked on diligently.

“Some prominent speakers have agreed to come,” says Proisl, such as BRK Vice President Andreas Krahl.

And a separate after-party is being organized for the members of the Holzkirchen staff.

“There will be a blue light ball,” reveals Proisl.

We're even starting our own dance course soon.

A seven-member festival committee is coordinating the preparations for the anniversary.

“Everyone takes on certain tasks,” says Proisl.

At the moment the focus is on whether everything will work out.

“But everything is developing well.”

The meeting was mainly about taking stock of the year 2023.

The members learned that 946 hours of work were carried out in the regular rescue service - an important contribution to emergency coverage in the north of the district.

Because the Holzkirchner team is also available at festivals and activities to provide help in an emergency, 1,080 hours were worked last year.

Information about the individual preparedness specialist groups completed the annual report.

The BRK divides its tasks into these specialist groups, which include the areas of technology and safety.

This was in use in Hausham in 2023 when hydrochloric acid leaked from a hazardous goods truck there.

Almost 1,800 donors came to the 13 blood donation appointments in Holzkirchen and Miesbach last year.

Over 70 members took part in the meeting in the anniversary year, including Elfie von Khreninger (deputy chairwoman of the BRK district association), Benedikt Dörder (district head of preparedness), Simon Horst (district manager) and third mayor Albert Kraml.
