On video: the new observation post established in Nahal Oz/IDF spokesperson
Only five months after the October 7 massacre, female observers who serve on the border with Gaza once again have to fear for their fate because of the residents of Gaza who are approaching the border fence.
A report by the parents of female observers indicates that yesterday (Wednesday) about 15 Palestinians came within less than a thousand meters of the perimeter fence and began behaving suspiciously.
The female observers quickly alerted the commanders in the field about the incident, but the fighters did not receive permission to fire and the Palestinians began to advance towards the border.
After pressure exerted by the IDF, one fighter fired at those Palestinians in order to drive them away.
The parents of the female observers claimed that the IDF's policy of opening fire towards the Palestinians who approach the fence reminds them disturbingly of the events of October 7, and they do not feel safe.
In the period before the outbreak of the war, female observers at the outposts on the Gaza border repeatedly warned about Palestinians who were behaving in a suspicious manner, but the army did not listen to them.
Now, the female observers serve in the same posts where their friends were murdered and kidnapped, and the commanders' disregard of their warnings brings back to them the trauma of that Saturday morning.

"Terrorists are returning to the border area and gathering intelligence. We estimate that they are returning to see if there are any shafts left under the rubble," a detachment officer told Walla!
"Hamas is trying to make the IDF aware of its presence in a study hundreds of meters from the fence.
A warning shot in the air that came very late does not serve the IDF's interest in shaping a new reality on the ground."

An IDF spokesperson stated: "The IDF is arrayed along the border fence in Gaza with many forces, and is working in a variety of ways to protect the area. The
IDF forces are acting according to the instructions not to allow access to the border fence by any party.
The instructions to open fire are orderly, and allow the forces to remove any threat, with all the tools to preserve their lives." "
In the event described, a number of suspects were identified in the Gaza Strip moving towards Israeli territory.
A ranged shot was fired at them to prevent them from approaching the border area, and they returned to the depths of the strip."
