March marks the first anniversary of Luise's death.
In Freudenberg the horror is still huge.
Even strangers want to come to the grave.
Freudenberg - On March 11, 2024, it was exactly one year ago that the then twelve-year-old Luise met a violent death.
While the relatives are fighting for compensation, there is great concern in Freundeberg (North Rhine-Westphalia) about grave pilgrims who might appear there for the anniversary.
At the comprehensive school that Luise attended, a mourning room will be opened for students next week.
The city is not planning a central memorial site.
Pastor asks to “respect the grave as a private burial site”
In a press conference, Mayor Nicole Reschke and Pastor Thomas Ijewski talked about the situation.
Reschke said their thoughts were with the dead student.
Ijewski appealed to people to stay away from the grave if possible.
The “pain that they had and must suffer” was “immeasurable,” said the clergyman about the relatives.
He asked on behalf of Luise's family to "respect the grave as a private burial site."
There are people who even want to come to Freudenberg for several days.
They contacted the pastor with the words “We want to be close to Luise.”

He made a clear request: “Stay at home, find people you can talk to.
Get professional help.” You should concentrate on your own life or get involved with young people where you live.
He spoke of March 11 as a “difficult day.”
Civil lawsuit for compensation for Luise's relatives
Luise is also an issue in the regional court in Koblenz, Rhineland-Palatinate.
The court will deal with Luise's case in civil proceedings.
The parents and a relative are suing for compensation and survivors' rights, as the regional court announced on Tuesday.
A date for the oral hearing has not yet been set.
There are claims of at least 50,000 euros in compensation for the parents and survivors' benefits of at least 30,000 euros per plaintiff.
Candles, flowers and figures lie at the site on the state border between Rhineland-Palatinate and North Rhine-Westphalia.

No criminal proceedings because the perpetrators were immature
Luise was killed in March 2023.
She was initially considered missing, but a day later her body was discovered in an impassable forest area just behind the Rhineland-Palatinate state border.
Shortly afterwards, investigators announced that the then twelve-year-old had fallen victim to a violent crime.
According to an autopsy, the girl bled to death.

A day later they announced that a 12-year-old and a 13-year-old were suspects.
The young age of the suspects in particular caused shock and hatred towards the perpetrators.
In Germany, young people aged 14 and over are considered to be of criminal responsibility.
There is therefore no criminal trial; the investigation was closed in September 2023.
There was also criticism of the authorities for withholding information from the public.
