A pro-Palestinian organization in the Netherlands petitioned the court to issue an arrest warrant for President Yitzhak Herzog, ahead of his planned visit to the Netherlands next week.
The President's House has not yet officially responded to the petition, and it is not clear whether it will affect its considerations.
In the petition of the "March 30" organization, it is claimed that Herzog has a central role in "fostering a climate that contributes to genocide in Gaza".
It is based on the president's "direct and indirect contribution" to the "systematic atrocities against the Palestinian population, in what constitutes a violation of international humanitarian and criminal law."
The consequences of the war in Gaza are already taking place on several levels in the Netherlands.
Last month, an appeals court ordered a freeze on the export of spare parts for F-35 aircraft to Israel, and the petition filed by South Africa about "genocide in Gaza" is being discussed at the International Court of Justice sitting in The Hague.
The petition mentions his public statements about Gaza.

The complaint against Herzog refers to his public statements, which the organization claims "dehumanized" the residents of Gaza "and justified disproportionate military measures, therefore creating an atmosphere for large-scale violence and potential genocide."
It is also written that "the acute humanitarian situation resulting from Israel's military operations began under the Herzog administration" - this is despite the fact that the president's role is symbolic and he does not make operative decisions.
The "March 30" organization demands that the Dutch authorities take legal action immediately, based on the Netherlands' jurisdiction over international crimes.
The complaint against him calls for the arrest of the president upon his entry into the Netherlands and his prosecution for "his critical role in the ongoing humanitarian disaster, war crimes and genocide in Gaza."
