Worcester - The schedule of the British Royal Family is known to be full of time-honored occasions and traditions that the British monarchs have often continued unchanged for hundreds of years.

One of these traditions is the annual “Royal Maundy” service, which takes place on Maundy Thursday.

During this ceremony, the British king is said to have been handing out coins to older people who have rendered service to the church or their community since the year 600.

This year, however, the distribution of the so-called Maundy coins will not be taken over by the king himself, a spokesman for Worcester Cathedral said on Monday (March 4).

Since King Charles III.

During his illness and the associated medical treatment, Charles is represented by members of the royal family.

This year's “Royal Maundy” service will therefore be taken over by his wife, Queen Camilla (76).

As the British “Daily Mail” reports, among others, this will be the first time that the king’s wife will carry out the traditional ceremony.
