Maisach/Mammendorf – The temporary distribution point of the Maisacher Tafel in the Schambergerhaus in Mammendorf was closed on March 1st after almost a year.
A team here provided food to up to 35 eligible families every Tuesday.
These were prepared in the Maisach Tafel and brought to Mammendorf.
Tafel Maisach supplies a large catchment area from Maisach/Gernlinden to Althegnenberg and the district border with Dachau.
“It is to be expected,” explains Katrin Rizzi, managing director of the community foundation for the Fürstenfeldbruck district, “that the number of those entitled to work at the desk in Mammendorf will increase once the new refugee accommodation goes into operation.” A food bank issue of this magnitude could not be handled in the Schambergerhaus become.
However, no suitable location could be found in Mammendorf where a food bank serving all the requirements could be set up.
As an alternative, Tafel Maisach will set up an additional distribution day in the Tafel shop in Maisach, Rizzi continued.
Every Wednesday between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. current and future customers from Mammendorf and Oberschweinbach will be served there in the usual way.
Looking for more volunteers
Although the majority of volunteers from Mammendorf come to Maisach, additional drivers are needed to collect the food and, on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., volunteers are needed for preparation and distribution.
The Tafel team is looking forward to new colleagues.
