In order to show transparency, the Green Party leader and MP Ricarda Lang has disclosed her income.

She also receives additional income every month.

Berlin – Green MP Ricarda Lang wants to stand for openness and transparency.

“It is important to me that not only my work is transparent.

As citizens, you have the right to know what I earn as part of my work as a member of the German Bundestag and whether I have any additional income,” it says on the 30-year-old’s website.

She then goes on to explain exactly how much money she gets for her work.

10,597 euros per month: This is the income of Ricarda Lang & Co.

The monthly income of Ricarda Lang – and other MPs – can be divided into different categories.

On the one hand, she receives an income that, according to the Basic Law, must be “appropriate and ensure her independence”.

Since July 2023, this has been 10,591.70 euros gross per month for members of the Bundestag.

There are no vacation or Christmas bonus payments.

In addition, Lang receives compensation of 4,725.48 euros every month, but this is earmarked.

The money must be used for rent, furnishing and running the office, but the costs for conferences, overnight stays and postage also flow from this pot.

“In addition, I have a maximum of 12,000.00 euros available to me annually.

This amount will not be paid out in cash.

“I mainly pay for office supplies, devices such as laptops with accessories, writing instruments, stationery, the IT equipment for my constituency office, cell phones and cell phone and landline contracts,” writes Ricarda Lang on her website.

The MP receives a further 23,205 euros for the salaries of her employees.

According to his own statements, Lang has no other income.

Members of the Bundestag get more money

The income of Ricarda Lang and her colleagues in the Bundestag will probably be increased again from July 1, 2024.

In fact, according to calculations by the taxpayers' association, a record increase is pending.

According to the law on representatives, the basis is the development of the nominal wage index.

The Federal Statistical Office gave this as 6.0 percent.

As a result of the automatic linkage decided in 2014, MPs' salaries - and also MPs' pensions - will also increase by 6.0 percent.

The Taxpayers' Association calculated that the diets would be increased by 635.50 euros from the current 10,591.70 euros per month to 11,227.20 euros.

However, the Bundestag can also decide to forego this increase.

He did this, for example, in 2020 during the corona pandemic.
