"We have lodged the appeal with the Tar against the Lazio Region's Resolution on school sizing, which ordered the merging of 20 comprehensive institutions throughout the Region, of which 5 in Rome".
This was announced by the councilor for the School of Rome Capital Claudia Pratelli.
"A decision - he further said - that Roma Capitale had to take in defense of the territory and the schools in response to the disregarded principle of loyal institutional collaboration by the Lazio Region towards all the other institutions involved: Municipalities, Municipality and Metropolitan City. The Lazio Region with the resolution on school sizing it has in fact proceeded with the forced and never discussed merger of many educational institutions, not taking into account the decision taken by the Permanent Regional Conference for Education, which had expressed itself unanimously on not proceeding with mergers other than those requested in that forum, also rejecting our requests to keep a dialogue open to better define the rationalization path according to logical and functional criteria".
"On the merits - he added - it should be noted that the mergers envisaged by the Lazio Region do not take into account the specific territorial situations and respond to merely accounting logic. In fact, fundamental garrisons in complex neighborhoods are left uncovered (as in the case of the Quarticciolo), and the unification of very different scholastic realities and also very distant from each other. I am thinking of the case of the two schools of the 9th Municipality, located 11 km away. In this context the appeal is a necessary act, to protect the territories and citizens from an illogical and irrational impoverishment".
