Another top doctor has died at the Munich University Hospital on the right bank of the Isar.
The clinic management reacts with an emotional statement.
The background is tragic.
Munich - He headed the vascular surgery clinic at the Rechts der Isar Clinic for almost 20 years and was one of the most experienced experts, for example in the treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysms - these are potentially life-threatening enlargements of the main artery.
Patients and colleagues alike valued him for his great specialist knowledge, but also for his great human qualities.
Top specialist at the operating table, highly valued as a doctor and person: Professor Hanns-Henning Eckstein, here in the North Operating Center of the University Hospital on the right of the Isar, succumbed to a serious illness.

Now Professor Hanns-Henning Eckstein had to admit defeat himself in the fight against an insidious illness.
The popular doctor and university professor died of cancer at the age of 68 - just a few months after leaving his position as head of vascular surgery at Ismaninger Strasse.

In the hospital on the right side of the Isar, the news of his death caused sadness and horror.
With Eckstein, the renowned model hospital of the Technical University of Munich has already lost its third clinic director in just a few years.
The head of the ear, nose and throat clinic, Professor Henning Bier, and the head of the eye clinic, Professor Chris P. Lohmann, had previously been tragically torn from life.
In addition, just last week, the clinic family said goodbye to their former chief surgeon and long-time medical director, Professor Jörg Rüdiger Siewert, at a memorial service.

hc Hans-Henning Eckstein deeply affected.
With Prof. Eckstein we are losing an extremely committed colleague and excellent doctor, an outstanding researcher and university professor.
He made the Clinic and Polyclinic for Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at the Rechts der Isar University Hospital known far beyond the borders of Munich and developed it into a leading center and attraction for patients with vascular diseases.
Our sincere condolences go out to his family at this difficult time.” Science Minister Markus Blume also addressed emotional words to Professor Eckstein’s family, friends and colleagues.
