Sweden became the 32nd member of NATO on Thursday with the handing over of official documents during a ceremony in Washington, the Scandinavian country having chosen, after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, to end two centuries of no -alignment.
“Everything comes in time to those who wait
,” declared the head of American diplomacy Antony Blinken, referring to a long ratification process among the 31 members.
The Secretary of State estimated that this integration demonstrates the
“strategic debacle”
suffered by Russia.
