The general public prosecutor's office of the Paris Court of Appeal requested Thursday that Swiss Islamologist Tariq Ramadan be tried for aggravated rape concerning one of his four accusers and requested the abandonment of proceedings concerning three others, we learned AFP from a source close to the matter, confirming information from BFMTV.
According to its submissions, the public prosecutor is asking the Paris Court of Appeal, which will study the case on March 29, for a trial before the departmental criminal court for an aggravated rape which allegedly occurred in Lyon in October 2009. The other facts including the prosecution's request for abandonment runs until 2016 and concerns other women sometimes denouncing several rapes.
