The EU is also ready to use artificial intelligence to complement its cyber shield to protect infrastructure and critical sectors from threats.
The European Commission underlines this by welcoming the political agreement reached between governments and the European Parliament on the new Cyber Solidarity Act.
The law "will take advantage of cutting-edge tools and infrastructure, such as artificial intelligence and advanced data analysis, to rapidly detect cyber threats and incidents", highlights Brussels.
It will do so through the establishment of a European cybersecurity alert system designed to give real-time information to authorities. The approval of the new cyber shield "comes at a crucial time for EU cybersecurity, as the threat landscape IT continues to be influenced by geopolitical events", warns Brussels.
The total budget for all actions envisaged by the legislative act is 1.1 billion euros, of which approximately two thirds are financed through the Digital Europe programme.
