The city plans to install a drinking fountain every year.

This is a contribution to the plan to make Germering climate-fit.

Germering - The first fountain is to be installed at Kleiner Stachus in the next few weeks, and another at Therese-Giehse-Platz this year.

Last summer, the works committee decided to set up a drinking fountain in the city every year.

On the one hand, this followed an initiative by the federal government to give all citizens access to drinking water in public spaces in accordance with an EU directive.

On the other hand, it should also be a contribution to making Germering climate-fit.

At the little Stachus

As Stadtwerke boss Andreas Robrecht now reported to the committee, the location of the first fountain had already been decided last summer: It is to be built on the Kleiner Stachus.

The city has already bought the fountain.

Its installation was delayed because the original location had to be slightly changed.

However, the plan is for it to be installed in the spring.

More places

The city also wants to install a fountain on Therese-Giehse-Platz this year and a third on the area of the leisure center (outdoor pool/ice rink) next year.

For these two water dispensers, the city can count on funding from a special federal program.

According to Robrecht, he has now decided that every German municipality will receive up to 30,000 euros for two wells.

The funding program is handled by the Munich Water Management Office.

The city will submit a corresponding application for funding, explained Andreas Robrecht.

The costs

According to the plant manager, the cost of a well is around 19,000 euros.

The well itself costs 8,400 euros, the rest has to be spent on the connection, civil engineering and restoration of the floor covering.

There is also a buffer for unforeseen events and the reusable tax.
