More 30 km/h zones, a roundabout on Riedkopfstrasse or a traffic island on Innsbrucker Strasse could solve problems in the city. The result of the traffic analysis has some suggestions for Mittenwald: more 30 km/h zones, a roundabout on Riedkopfstrasse or a traffic island on Innsbrucker Strasse could solve problems in the city.

At least that's what the commissioned planning office believes.

Mittenwald – Mittenwald should designate more 30 km/h zones.

This is one of Andreas Bergmann's central suggestions.

“There are still opportunities in town,” the qualified geographer and transport developer confirmed to the committee at a recent meeting.

A speed limit of 50 to 30 kilometers per hour cannot be implemented everywhere.

Through routes such as Innsbrucker, Tiefkar or Partenkirchner Straße are taboo.

Even in commercial areas, 30 km/h speed limit is not possible at all or only to a limited extent.

However, there are some sections elsewhere in Mittenwald where Bergmann can only recommend reducing the speed - for example in residential areas or around sensitive facilities such as kindergartens or schools.

According to experts, speeding up to 30 km/h also makes sense where there is a particular risk of accidents - for example due to road damage or sharp curves.

Or where noise and emissions increase to such an extent that limit values are exceeded and the health of residents appears to be at risk.

According to experts, 30 km/h roads have several advantages

As is well known, Andreas Bergmann examined traffic in Mittenwald on behalf of the market town.

At the most recent meeting, the expert from the Munich planning company “City, Country, Transport” presented the results of this framework plan.

Bergmann and Co. analyzed both moving and stationary traffic (report follows).

Based on the data collected, the mayor and local council believe they have a decision-making tool in hand.

“Every single point will soon be voted on,” promises town hall boss Enrico Corongiu (SPD).

Roads with a speed limit of 30 km/h would have further advantages for Bergmann: Among other things, according to him, this would not only significantly increase safety for pedestrians, but also for cyclists.

“Two-wheelers then float more in traffic because they travel at a similar speed to cars.

You then have to be more considerate of each other.”

Roundabout is supposed to slow down traffic

In order to be able to better control the annoying sheet metal avalanches through Mittenwald in the future, Bergmann also suggests structural measures: A roundabout on the corner of Riedkopf-, Lindlahner- and Innsbrucker-Straße south of the Isar bridge would be conceivable.

“There is enough space there.” However, the center of the island would have to be one that can be used by heavy traffic, otherwise there would be a dead end for 7.5-ton and heavier tractors.

This means: The island must be flat, paved or asphalted.

Such a crossing aid also makes sense for Bergmann on the corner of Leutascher and Innsbrucker Straße.

“This would allow us to slow down the traffic in and out of town much better.” Because the Tyrolean neighbors in particular frequent the road there.

According to the surveys, there are numerous IL license plates (Innsbruck Land, editor's note) on this route, confirms Bergmann.

This is primarily due to the supermarket on Dekan-Karl-Platz, where the neighbors like to shop because of the comparatively cheap offers.

Mainly vehicles with GAP license plates roam Mittenwald

When it comes to traffic flow through, to and from Mittenwald, not much has changed since the interim report last year.

Mainly local vehicles with GAP signs are on the streets.

Peak times are between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m., when commuter traffic primarily moves towards Garmisch-Partenkirchen and in the direction of Krün/Wallgau.

In the evening between 5 and 6 p.m. it's exactly the opposite.

My news

  • Mittenwald Ice Stadium: There is enough space for insolvency proceedings

  • Bakery closure in Seehausen: Probably not a seamless transition, but there are “serious applications” read

  • Admission prices for the popular museum in Garmisch-Partenkirchen are open

  • Traffic accident in Oberau: High damage after a collision between two cars

  • When the district asks to pay: The people of Krün pay the most

  • Massive disruptions in Garmisch and Griesen: B23 completely closed for two weeks in April

Bergmann announces that local public transport services are largely well covered in the area.

There is only one large white spot: the area around the fishing pond, which is also home to the commercial area, and north of Tiefkarstraße show deficits.

Bergmann’s appeal to the local councilors: “You have to change that!”
