"We appreciated Trenitalia's opening of the discussion" on the regulation on the transport of luggage, bicycles and scooters on board high-speed trains.
"It is important, however, that at the conclusion of the dialogue process, the most unacceptable measures are removed, against which, not surprisingly, we had announced our intention to present a complaint to the Antitrust and the Transport Authority, considering them so aggressive that could constitute an unfair commercial practice, given that the requests are abnormal and disproportionate".
This was stated by Massimiliano Dona, president of the National Consumers Union.
These are the points considered mandatory by the UNC: "no to the requirement of having to unload irregular baggage at the first station where the train stops; no to the obligation to indicate one's name and contact details on one's baggage; no to having to pack bicycles, scooters or other items with bags; no to the splitting of rules depending on the class in which you travel; no to information opacity.
Any limit on the size of baggage must be highlighted not only on the home page of the site, but at every stage of purchasing the ticket, from the beginning of the procedure".
"For the avoidance of doubt - concludes Dona -, let us say from now on that in the future we will not accept any discrimination in tariffs on baggage based on the type of ticket purchased. Since it has been declared that it is a security problem, in fact, exemptions must not be possible after payment of a supplement ".
