Scholz and the traffic light are facing a stress test in the Bundestag: The Union wants to vote again on Taurus deliveries for Ukraine, as the Munich Merkur learned.
Berlin – The Union wants to have the Bundestag vote on Taurus deliveries for Ukraine for the second time within a few days.
“We take the FDP at its word.
We will put the delivery of the Taurus to the Ukrainian military up for vote again in the Bundestag next week,” said CSU regional group leader Alexander Dobrindt exclusively to the
Münchner Merkur
on Tuesday (February 5) .
Dobrindt added: “I expect that the Taurus supporters from the traffic light factions will finally stand by their public demands in the Bundestag.” The vote could therefore become a real test for the traffic light and Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD).
Wolfgang Kubicki (FDP) provided the template for the new initiative.
The Bundestag Vice President expects more FDP votes in the parliamentary vote.
Last time, FDP defense politician Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann voted for the Union proposal.

Discipline in the traffic light coalition at the end?
FDP could vote for the Union's Taurus proposal
“I am sure that the Union will submit an application again next week and I am also sure that this time more MPs will vote to deliver Taurus to Ukraine,” FDP Vice President Kubicki told the Munich Merkur
on Monday
.
“Last time, at least a dozen other colleagues I know would have loved to have agreed to the Union proposal, but they submitted to coalition discipline.
I was close to it too.
This time I would have reached the point of doing it,” said Kubicki.
The last vote took place on February 22nd.
In a roll-call vote, 182 MPs voted for the bill, 480 against and five abstained.
Of the traffic light coalition, only the chairwoman of the Defense Committee, Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann, voted with the Union.
The CDU/CSU motion for a “real turning point in German foreign and security policy” had called for the “immediate delivery of requested weapon systems available in Germany,” including Taurus cruise missiles.
