The vhs Oberland has arrived well in Gmund.
The second chairwoman Veronika Weese reported to the local council.
Gmund
- Since July 2023, the once independent adult education center (vhs) Gmund-Dürnbach has been incorporated into the vhs Oberland, and operations began in the former Dürnbach town hall in May even before the official start.
As part of the local council meeting, second chairwoman Veronika Weese reported in Gmund about the educational institution's work so far.
“You have arrived safely and are being well received,” said Mayor Alfons Besel (FWG) before the report.

Veronika Weese, who forms the vhs board together with Dominik Schmidt, reviewed the most important steps since the incorporation.
“We put a lot of passion into our work and managed to keep things running smoothly,” reported Weese.
This included the creation of a 20-hour position on site in Dürnbach - a position that is filled by Sandra Gensthaler.
Because we quickly talked to the course instructors, we managed to offer a program in Gmund in the fall, Weese reported.
The open day in the summer, which was organized as an “aperitivo to get to know each other”, was also a success.
Accounting and financial center in Gmund
At the express request of the community, the vhs building on Münchner Straße is well occupied and staffed on weekdays.
“As an appreciation,” vhs Oberland also moved the entire accounting and financial center to Gmund.
In addition, board meetings would take place in Gmund, and other employees would also be working on various tasks in the community.
“We are trying to involve as many people as possible in Gmund and bring life into it,” said Weese, who also presented a few statistics.
From July to September, 87 courses with 325 participants took place.
“This is a start,” said the co-chair.
An additional 124 new courses are planned for the second Gmund semester.
The basic plan is not only to retain the course instructors, but also to continue to build the tribe on a solid foundation.
Courses for children and seniors
From the offering for Gmund, Weese picked out courses for children during the holidays, but also courses that take place in collaboration with the community or other clubs.
Language, health and creative courses are available for this purpose.
The free “Café & PC” course for seniors is already running.

“We have a lot of fun in Gmund,” said Weese, who also informed us that around 60 to 70 percent of the board’s work was invested in Gmund last year in order to perform well there.
“We are satisfied and believe that we have already arrived well,” summarized the vhs director.
At the same time, she also asked the council members for criticism and feedback.
“And we are looking forward to tailwind,” concluded Weese.
Combined with thanks for the cooperation, Mayor Besel formulated a satisfied summary: “You did a good job and overcame many hurdles.”
