IG Metall Weilheim has planned an event at Hirschvogel in Schongau for Women's Day - and is now unable to be as visible as desired.
The company takes a stand.
Schongau - As stated in a press release from IG Metall, the Women's Day event was correctly registered with Hirschvogel.
The plan was to set up information pavilions at the employee entrance turnstiles and offer a Women's Day walk through the offices.
But plant management and human resources management “didn’t want to know anything about it,” IG Metall criticizes the company’s reaction.
At Hirschvogel, the cancellation of the walk is based on safety concerns.
“Unfortunately, we cannot authorize tours within the plant with external parties in this form for security and confidentiality reasons,” explains press spokeswoman Michaela Heinle.
“As an alternative to the desired tours, we have suggested to IG Metall a meeting room on our company premises in Hall 9 so that employees can also be present within the plant during break times on International Women’s Day.”
Women's Day campaign at Hirschvogel relocated to "last parking lot"?
- Union complains
Heinle also states that the information pavilions will be set up in the east and west employee parking spaces near the turnstiles.
“Employees can get information there before or after work or during breaks.” It was IG Metall’s wish to place the pavilions in the parking lot, says Heinle.
Karl Musiol, who, as second representative of IG Metall Weilheim, is responsible for Hirschvogel in Schongau, among other things, describes the place as a “sad area in the last corner of the furthest parking lot.”
“No one will see us there.
And that’s exactly what’s on purpose.”
Marion Jauch, who sits on the union's local women's committee, makes it clear that an action is planned every year for International Women's Day.
“This time our women chose Hirschvogel in Schongau,” said Jauch.
And quite consciously: Despite 1,000 employees, no collective agreement applies there.
“So we have no insight into gender equity in remuneration,” says Jauch.
For her, the company is therefore an ideal place “to inform the women who work hard there.”
Interim injunction: Court will decide on the case on Friday
For Women's Day, IG Metall has already ordered hundreds of pretzels in the shape of the women's symbol, and the bags with information material have already been packed.
Vouchers for online seminars on women's rights will also be distributed on Friday.
“We also thought about the men,” adds Jauch.
There should be information and contact points about men's health.

“We won’t allow ourselves and our women to be relegated to the back burner,” Jauch and Musiol agree.
The trade unionists absolutely want to enforce their claim - they are even going to court for an interim injunction.
The hearing will take place on Friday at 9 a.m., explains Jauch when asked.
Then it will become clear what form the campaign at Hirschvogel will ultimately take.
