This Thursday, federal judge Ernesto Kreplak ordered
fifty extensive measures of national and international evidence
on the former mayor of Lomas de Zamora Martín Insaurralde, his girlfriend Sofia Clérici and his ex-wife Jesica Cirio, in the case in which they are of course being investigated illicit enrichment and money laundering known as “Yategate”.
At the request of prosecutor Sergio Mola and his PROCELAC colleague, Diego Velasco, the magistrate ordered
a series of raids and investigations
into trips abroad, companies, properties and automobiles that the defendants in this open case had or have. due to the scandal of the photos of the trip on the Bandido yacht uploaded to social networks by the model Clérici, last year.
Due to the scandal, Insaurralde - who managed gambling in the province of Buenos Aires and still maintains some power in the area - had to resign as chief of staff of Governor Axel Kicillof.
In a resolution, Kreplak
summoned the former deputy director of the Financial Information Unit Maria Eugenia as a witness for April 17.
In addition, he requested information on
the company KIDEZA SRL - which installs public lighting in municipalities of Greater Buenos Aires -
from the AFIP, the Central Bank, the UIF and other State agencies.
He also asked the legal representatives of the credit card firms American Express Argentina SA, Visa Argentina SA and Mastercard SA to report, regarding the last ten years, if they have or have had any type of relationship with the accused.
The President of the Argentine Stud Book of the Argentine Jockey Club and the San Isidro racecourse were also asked
if Insaurralde had any racehorses.
The judge accepted that the prosecutors send a request to the US Justice to
require the travel agency “Forest Travel Agency Inc.”
and/or “Forest Travel LLC”, of Miami, the traceability of credit card payments made by Insaurralde for trips abroad.
Regarding the request to lift the tax secrecy of Insaurralde's ex-wife, Carolina Ileana Alvarez, the judge denied it.
She is the daughter of Duhalde's former Minister of Public Works, Alvarez de Toledo.
Due to the “time that has elapsed since its separation and since it has not been specified what the usefulness and relevance of the requested measure would be.”
The magistrate also ordered the testimony of Raúl Claudio Fernández for the sale to Cirio of
a Ford Territory model vehicle, among other measures.
As
Clarín
announced on Tuesday, Insaurralde's trips abroad are the Achilles' heel in this case for illicit enrichment.
Prosecutor Mola confirmed that last year alone, Axel Kicillof's former chief of staff spent “82 thousand dollars on his air tickets,” including the expenses of his scandalous trip to Marbella to sail on the yacht "Bandido" with the model. Clérici.
Meanwhile, he made those expenses on trips, his monthly income as Buenos Aires chief of staff was “only about 1,800 dollars” and therefore “his sworn declaration” of assets does not cover his income and expenses for such a standard of living, a judicial source told Clarín.
