During noon on Thursday, the third day of Expoagro 2024, the main leaders of the Pro met with authorities of the agroindustrial mega-exhibition.
Jorge Macri, head of Government of the City of Buenos Aires (CABA) was the first to arrive.
“The City of Buenos Aires
is culturally linked
to the sector because there are many people who have countryside and who live in the city, there are many students interested in agricultural sciences and studied in the city.
Furthermore, in recent years the use of technology in the countryside has grown a lot and the technology provider companies are in the City,” he told Clarín.
Likewise, he stressed that “we are a great market for the products that the countryside produces” and announced that
they are advancing in their own food market in the south of Buenos Aires.
For the head of the Buenos Aires government, the tour of the National Capital of Agribusiness was not a day only destined to talk with producers and leaders of the sector, but to announce specific news:
the Congress of the Argentine Association of Direct Sowing Producers ( Aapresid) will take place from August 7 to 9, in the city of Buenos Aires.
“It is an exceptional Congress, having it in the city is a great emotion,” said Macri, who declared himself “proud” to be the architect of the event's arrival in the capital for the first time.
In this sense, the tenor of his speech was one of rapprochement with the sector, in a search to continue weaving bridges.
"
My view is one of admiration and affection for agriculture
," he stated and, in relation to the distinctions between countryside and city, he asked to "end the concept of 'or' and begin to embrace the concept of 'and'" to " go towards the union of capital, knowledge and natural resources.”
