Fake police officers, grandchild tricks or a supposedly new telephone number: Police stations report cases of fraud almost every day, in which victims often lose large amounts of money.

The possible protection against this - healthy mistrust - is appropriate in all cases.

GAP – Too many telephone scammers are still successful with their scams.

They deceive their victims in a variety of ways and thus take their savings out of their pockets.

To combat this, the Bavarian police, together with the state of Saxony, launched a large-scale prevention campaign last week.

Increased educational work was also carried out in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

At their information stand in the GEP shopping center, the officials appealed to citizens to remain vigilant and to find out about current fraud schemes.

“Nobody is safe from fraudsters,” explained Chief Inspector Braut.

“It is important to develop suspicion and question suspicious calls or messages.”

Braut emphasized that the main problem is often that people feel too safe and believe that something like this cannot happen to them.

But from young to old - anyone can become a victim of such scams.

“You always have to have your protective shield up,” he emphasized.

Older people in particular are often targeted by fraudsters.

It is therefore crucial to inform relatives and friends about possible dangers and to offer support.

For this purpose, small displays were distributed at the information stand on which the contact details of the most important contact persons can be entered.

According to the groom, a quick sorting and activating your own protective shield can prevent traumatic experiences.

The officers were available to help and advise visitors to the shopping center; they wanted to ensure that the fraudsters were no longer involved.

The aim is to curb the spread of fraud through prevention and education.
