Great honor for Christian Stückl: The Oberammergau resident received the Federal Cross of Merit.

For example, for his commitment to the Passion and against anti-Semitism.

Munich – Christian Stückl has received several awards for his work against anti-Semitism.

The Abraham Geiger Prize, the Isaiah Award of the American Jewish Committee and the Buber Rosenzweig Medal.

Now the Passion Play director has been honored with the Federal Cross of Merit, First Class, for his commitment, including for his work at the Passion.

The Oberammergauer received the award on Thursday in the Theater am Gärtnerplatz from the hands of Art Minister Markus Blume (CSU).

“If the Passion Play is the soul of Oberammergau, then Christian Stückl is the pulse of the place,” said Blume in his laudatory speech: “Always pushing forward, setting the pace and indispensable.”

With his efforts and passion, Stückl, who became the youngest leader of the Passion to date in 1987, led the games into modern times.

“You gave hundreds of thousands of visitors a new, contemporary look at Jesus Christ.”

Stückl's commitment to young actors was also highlighted.
