As the protagonist in “The Emergency Doctor,” Sabrina Amali regularly has to treat seriously injured people.

Luckily for her, it's just film blood on camera.

Mannheim – Sabrina Amali (32) already has a lot of experience for her title role in “The Emergency Doctor”.

Before she started her career as an actress, the Swiss woman actually wanted to become a doctor.

As she now reveals, her mother was initially a little disappointed when Sabrina ultimately did not pursue a career in medicine.

“She is Moroccan and I think it is typically Arab that they want children to become doctors,” says the TV star in an interview with bild.de.

“But after watching the series, she said to me: 'This is a very tiring job.

I'm glad you didn't become an emergency doctor.'”

Sabrina Amali did an internship in the hospital as a teenager

During a student internship at the age of 16, Sabrina Amali realized that becoming a doctor would definitely not be an option for her.

The teenager discovered that she couldn't see any blood at all.

The doctor who accompanied her in the hospital tried to allay Sabrina's fears in a radical way.

“He thought shock therapy was the solution and constantly brought me in for the operations.

“I fell over three times in a row,” says the “The Emergency Doctor” actress with amusement.

The fact that she is regularly confronted with large amounts of film blood in front of the camera doesn't bother the protagonist of the ARD series.

Despite the bad memories of her hospital internship, Sabrina Amali overcame her fear before filming of “The Emergency Doctor” began and rode in a Berlin ambulance for two days to prepare for her role.

“I wanted to be useful during the internship and not get in the way and tried to help professionally,” she tells bild.de.

“When you do something like this, all your senses are absolutely heightened.

When you enter an apartment, you smell, look and perceive energies.

You are so focused that you become absolutely calm.

I then adopted that for my role.

And luckily I didn’t become a patient myself during the internship.”

In “The Emergency Doctor” Sabrina Amali wants to show a strong woman

As inspiration for the part of Dr.

Nina Haddad, Sabrina Amali was also served by her female relatives.

"I have three sisters.

Women are very present in our family, very different and very self-confident.

My image of women has been greatly influenced by my sisters and various aunts.

For me, a strong woman is the one who lives her authentic self, no matter what others say,” she explains in the “Bild” interview.
