“Human rights for everyone!” This is this year’s motto for the International Weeks Against Racism.

The Integration Advisory Council Oberallgäu eV has been campaigning for these rights for 45 years and knows what it is like for people who experience hostility and exclusion in everyday life simply because of their origin, skin color or religion.

It's just that some people don't realize how hurtful questions or statements can be.

This is where the exhibition “What You Don’t See” comes into play, which can be seen in the AlpenStadt Museum in Sonthofen.

Sonthofen – The exhibition “What you don’t see” addresses racism and experiences of discrimination among black people and BIPoC in Germany using anonymous quotes that were originally collected and published on the Instagram channel of the same name “wasihrnichtseht” and is intended to stimulate reflection and discussion.

“Many white people are not aware of the everyday racism that black people experience every day.

If you are not affected yourself, you often don't notice things.

Hence the name “What you don’t see,” says the initiator Dominik Lucha.

His hope is that white people will understand how omnipresent racism still is and that everyone will actively work together for an anti-racist future.

With “What you don’t see” a platform was created that bears witness to racism in Germany and clearly shows that these experiences are so much more than individual fates.

Thanks to the support of the city of Sonthofen, this exhibition was able to be housed in the AlpenStadtMuseum and thus made accessible to a broad public.

It is from Tuesday, December 12th.

March, until Friday, March 22nd, during regular opening hours.

Admission to the special exhibition is free.

For organizational reasons, school classes and larger groups are asked to register.
