Jean-Yves Chapelet's decision was motivated by the decision of the Paris administrative court which validated the imam's expulsion to Tunisia.
The mayor of the small town of Gard also claims to have read the details of the imam's sermons,
"the contents of which justified this expulsion in absolute emergency"
he underlines.
“I rely on the court order, but also on the fact that Mahjoub Mahjoubi is still vice-president of the Rhone Gard Muslims association.

The expulsion order was confirmed by the administrative court on March 4 after the broadcast of a short extract massively relayed on social networks, where we can see the imam holding a sermon, facing the camera.
