There is a trend reversal in ATM attacks: only seven ATMs have been blown up in North Rhine-Westphalia so far this year.
In the same period last year there were 35 explosions, reported North Rhine-Westphalia Interior Minister Herbert Reul (CDU) on Friday in Düsseldorf.
This corresponds to a decrease of 80 percent.
Düsseldorf - The banks have now retrofitted their ATMs on a large scale with color sets that color the money if it is blown up and thus make it unusable.
75 percent of the savings banks' ATMs are now equipped with such color cartridges.
