The nominations for the “Amadeus Austrian Music Award” are out.
But they are a slap in the face for pop star Andreas Gabalier.
Vienna – The “Amadeus Austrian Music Award” has been presented in Vienna every year since 2000 in various music categories.
It is now considered the biggest music prize in Austria.
And just a nomination is like an accolade.
It has now been announced who can hope for the coveted trophy this year.
But Andreas Gabalier (39) is obviously not there.
Singer Andreas Gabalier sharply criticizes the “Amadeus Austrian Music Award”.
He fills entire stadiums, many of his albums now have gold and platinum status and he is known beyond the country's borders as Austria's folk rock'n'roller.
Nevertheless, according to schlager.de
, it is
the second year in a row that Andreas Gabalier has not been nominated for the “Amadeus Austrian Music Award”.
Already in 2023, singer Melissa Naschenweng (33) overtook him as a nominee and winner in the “Pop/Folk Music” category.
A decision that the 39-year-old could not understand at the time.
“If performance, facts and figures no longer count at all and some community of artificial skulls, the great experts, evaluate what is good or bad according to their own discretion, then so be it,” complained Gabalier in the Kronen
Zeitung
.
A few years earlier, the “Hulapalu” singer had already spoken of the fact that he had not been nominated in 2020 as a “declaration of poverty”.

Andreas Gabalier has received the coveted music award a total of seven times since 2012.
Although he released his last album (“A New Beginning”) in 2022, in addition to the “Pop/Folk Music” category, there is also the award for “Live Act of the Year”.
Since his tour last year was a huge success, the singer might have had a great chance of winning the award - but instead he received another slap.

Because once again this year, Melissa Naschenweng is ahead.
She is nominated in both categories (“Schlager/Folk Music” and “Best Live Act”).
But Nik P. (61), Die Draufgänger, Die Seer and Natalie Holzner (31) can also hope for the “Amadeus Austrian Music Award”.
The award ceremony will take place on April 26th in the Vienna Volkstheater.
