In July, the second edition of the BK Open Air Music Festival will take place in the Bad Kohlgruber Kurpark.

The organizers offer reggae, samba and rock at family-friendly rates.

Bad Kohlgrub - One tent for the backstage area won't be enough this year, you need two.

Because many musicians are coming to the second BK Open Air in the Kurpark.

And not just any.

The line-up was “great again,” says Matthias Winkler, director of the festival.

This required a lot of time, feeling and several trained ears to detect good sounds.

After all, they want to inspire people on July 5th and 6th in Bad Kohlgrub, where some cultural greats will be appearing in 2024.

Festival organizer Lars Leidl and Winkler have had many phone calls in the past few months.

The program had to be changed a few times, says Winkler.

But the demands cannot and could not be shaken.

When selecting the acts, emphasis is placed on the quality of the singing and the live performance.

The whole thing also has to harmonize, not just musically, but also interpersonally.

And in addition to headliners, they also want to give the next generation a stage.

There was already a great atmosphere at the open-air event in the Bad Kohlgruber Kurpark last year.

BK Open Air returns: After the success at the premiere in 2023, there was no question of repetition

After the premiere in summer 2023, it soon became clear that there would be a sequel.

The festival was so well received that it called for a repeat.

The team around Winkler, Leidl and Martin Niklas, chairman of the Bad Kohlgrub Village Development Association, the organizer of the festival, received a lot of positive feedback.

But the second edition will not be a mere repetition.

New ideas flow in, suggestions are taken into account.

One of these that the team now wants to implement: more danceability.

In collaboration with Radio Oberland and the station's local hit concerts, a line-up of regional young groups and nationally and internationally known artists was put together.

Samba, reggae, rock: visitors to the BK Open Air can expect musical diversity

Over a dozen drummers from the Peitingen street-style samba group Pura Vida will open the festival Friday.

This is followed by the urban brass specialists Sound Gurus and the hip-hop brass formation Fättes Blech, the Keller Steff Big Band and the Combo Folkshilfe.

Saturday belongs to the Andechs singer-songwriter Mona Lisa Maxim, the Garmisch-Partenkirchen reggae formation Irie Fambli and the singer-songwriter Alexander Eder.

The grand finale will be contested by Anja Bavaria, who will combine dialect with urban dance music.

Diverse culinary offerings, family-friendly prices: the more people come “the cooler,” say the organizers of the BK Open Air

But there will also be new things around it.

The prices “stay where they were,” says Winkler (one day: 39.90 euros, two days: 59.90 euros).

But new to the card offering is a youth ticket.

This promises discounted entry for 16 and 17 year olds.

Children and young people under the age of 16 even come to the festival site for free.

They wanted to make the tariffs “more family-friendly,” says Leidl.

Because: The more people, “the cooler” it gets, emphasizes Winkler.

The Il Duetto restaurant, the third cooperation partner alongside Radio Oberland and Ammergauer Alpen GmbH, is once again offering VIP tickets with guaranteed seating and an Italian buffet.

There are also other culinary offerings and various creations at the cocktail bar.

In the meantime, they would like to redesign the light installations on stage - they should, as Winkler puts it, be “even cooler and more exciting”.

And people also want to “play” with fire, keyword: pyrotechnics.

Tickets are available at www.muenchenticket.de and in the tourist information offices of the Ammergau Alps.

Remaining tickets are available at the box office.

Speaking of the stage: Winkler warns that not everything will happen up there.

“Something can happen anywhere”, at this festival “in the middle of town”, which is “unique” and offers something for everyone.

And that is also “down-to-earth,” adds Leidl.

And festival director Winkler has one piece of advice: “It’s worth being there right from the start.” Because all the bands “are really giving it their all”.
