A deficit of 25,000 euros at “Faust” - for those responsible in the town hall, this is a success story.

Rightly so.

Dorfen

- At a cost of 343,000 euros, the “Faust in Dorfen” settlement ends with a deficit of 25,000 euros.

From an accounting perspective, that may be a minus.

The bottom line is that this is a huge plus for the city of Dorfen and its citizens.

Because the mega-project “Faust” is essentially Dorfen’s summer fairy tale.

The city and its residents have sent a message that is widely recognized: Something is going on in Dorfen.

There are doers and creative people here who have the confidence to achieve great things.

There are enthusiastic people here who invest hundreds of their time and effort.

There are entrepreneurs here who contribute to the success as sponsors.

And here is a city council and an administration that supports the great venture and does not stand on the brakes as bureaucratic obstructors.

There were enough points of criticism at the beginning: wrong piece, financial risk, traffic obstruction and noise pollution in the city center.

It would have been very easy to give in to this skepticism and reject “Faust”.

And in the end it would have been a new chapter of grumpiness in fed-up Germany.

Such projects strengthen the community spirit.

People who might not otherwise have much to do with their neighbors realize that great things can happen together.

This attitude to life - also celebrated in clubs from sports to fire departments - is contagious and attractive.

Such magnetism is a location factor, not least for Dorfen's city center.

Like many town centers, it is under pressure.

The changes in people's shopping and leisure behavior are also affecting villages.

That's why the city has to exploit all of its locational advantages.

The image as a vibrant cultural city, polished with expertise and commitment, is definitely part of this.

The “Faust” and the square concerts organized by Jakobmayer in 2023 with Martina Schwarzmann, Helge Schneider and Herbert Pixner made you want more.

It's good that the next Jakobmayer Festival on the Unterer Markt has already been approved.
