Erding - Digitalization, artificial intelligence, ChatGPT and autonomous driving are some of the key words from the lecture by Prof. Dr.-Ing.

Werner Wolf, Professor of Information Technology from Ottobrunn in the Hotel Henry on Wednesday, March 20th, 7:30 p.m.

Admission is free.

“The term 'digital' appears over 200 times in some combination of words in the coalition agreement of the current traffic light government, often when other solutions to the problem have not been successful or no other options seem possible - and when it comes to 'digitalization' there was and is none Coalition conflict,” says Werner Wolf, professor of information technology, in his lecture announcement for the ÖDP Erding district association.

He himself has a long history of experience in digital technology; he held the first digital chips from Texas Instruments Inc. of the TTL series 74xx in his hands during his industrial internship in 1968.

This is also his motive for looking back at the development of digital technology and its applications after he has outlined the main advantages of this technology over analog information processing.

“A little math doesn't hurt,” says Wolf, explaining his excursion into theory. “It's certainly useful if you understand a little about the technology used in everyday life (every light switch is a digital element with its on-off function).”

After this first part, the focus is on the current, partly emotionally driven discussions: ChatGPT arouses fears, autonomous driving is a wishful thinking.

The technical terms 'analog' and 'digital' as metaphors introduced by politicians for 'old and yesterday' as well as for 'modern and future-oriented' are actually not used correctly, “because both analog and digital technology are essential components of our current high -Tech applications.”

The technology assessment should give us an answer to whether all of these really represent a positive added value for the human user – viewed holistically.

But do we even ask about it?
