Emmanuel Macron denounced this Friday “false information and fabricated scenarios”, referring to rumors on social networks according to which his wife Brigitte was a transgender woman.
“The worst thing is false information and created scenarios, with people who end up believing it and who upset you, including in your privacy,” commented the President of the Republic, questioned by journalists on the subject at the end of the ceremony sealing abortion in the Constitution.
Since 2017 and the election of Emmanuel Macron, conspiracy theories have regularly spread on social networks claiming that Brigitte Macron, née Trogneux, is in reality a transgender woman whose first name was Jean-Michel.
“We must use the law, justice”
A vast conspiracy would be at work to hide this change in marital status, according to this rumor which also resulted in more serious accusations of child abuse brought against the First Lady.
“Against this machismo, we must use the law, justice”, elaborated Emmanuel Macron, calling for a strengthening of “digital public order” on social networks, “a formidable place of expression of the craziest” that he still considers himself “without rules.”
