The CEO of the energy supplier EnBW, Andreas Schell, has surprisingly resigned from his position.
The supervisory board approved this decision in an extraordinary meeting, the company announced on Friday in Karlsruhe.
The main reason was therefore different opinions between the Supervisory Board and Schell on crucial questions of strategic development.
Karlsruhe - Schell only took up his position as EnBW boss in November 2022 with a contract term of three years.
Board member Georg Stamatelopoulos is now moving to the top position.
The EnBW supervisory board chairman Lutz Feldmann said of Schell's departure: "We regret this step, which is taking place by mutual agreement." Despite intensive discussions, no agreement has been reached in the past few months.
Stamatelopoulos is currently responsible for the “Sustainable Generation Infrastructure” department on the energy company’s board of directors.
According to the information, he was appointed CEO until the end of his existing appointments, i.e. until May 31, 2029.
