Business school director Gerd Preuß was ceremoniously retired.

He symbolically handed over the key to his previous deputy, Johann Müller.

Freising

- In his laudatory speech, Johann Müller told how he started at the state business school more than 20 years ago, how he was able to get to know Gerd Preuß and how a friendship arose from that.

Now he stands before him as his successor and has to say goodbye to him.

Surreal or as the students would put it: “I’m not checking!”

His decision-making and leadership skills as well as his straightforwardness were the major strengths of the senior director of studies.

Everyone knew where he stood.

He was also known and valued for his organizational talent in timetables and substitution plans, but also in exam planning.

He was both popular and feared among his students.

Education for self-discipline was always important to him.

In class, Preuß made the best possible use of the time available - to the chagrin of the students, watching videos was “always an anathema” to him.

Farewell gifts that touch the heart

With a song written by Johann Müller based on the melody of Truck Stop “Dave Dudley”, he reviewed his work at the school.

Human resources councilor Renate Roider-Windolf also had only words of praise for the outgoing headmaster.

District Administrator Helmut Petz was also among the guests and personally said goodbye to Preuß.

(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

Friedemann Böhme, head of the ethics department, rolled up his sleeves and, together with many of Gerd Preuß's companions, shot a beautiful, heartfelt video with many personal words and created a great photo book with many beautiful memories that have come together over 20 years.

Gerd Preuß thanked you for the many wonderful surprises and gave the teaching staff and guests present words of warning: “Digital development and artificial intelligence pose major challenges for the teaching profession.”

He was almost happy “not to have to deal with this anymore.”

Johann Müller, the successor

Director of Studies Johann Müller is now taking over the management of the school, his deputy is Director of Studies Olaf Steil.

Müller came to the school in 2003.

After a very short time, he took over the tasks of system administrator and mathematics department support.

He was appointed by the government of Upper Bavaria as a technical and educational assistant for mathematics at business schools.

With the realignment of the business school, the opportunity arose to help shape and further develop this type of school through a secondment to the State Institute for School Quality and Educational Research (ISB).

Johann Müller found out about his calling shortly before the Christmas holidays.

On the last day of school in the first half of the year, he toasted the school together with the outgoing headmaster of the business school, senior director of studies Gerd Preuß and the teaching staff at a small ceremony.

According to Müller, his goal is to “create a learning atmosphere at school in which school life is characterized by mutual respect, harmonious cooperation and trust”.

According to him, it is very important “not to forget who we teachers work for every day”.

Müller's strength is that he can inspire his protégés to take lessons, thereby providing them with perfect preparation for a modern professional world characterized by constant change.

As the school's former "mathematics head", he continues to prepare his students for a further academic career at a technical or vocational high school.
