Six games of the European Football Championship will take place in Munich in 2024.
The Olympic Park should become the central contact point for fans.
Munich – The European Football Championship will officially open with the game between Germany and Scotland on June 14, 2024.
The performance of coach Julian Nagelsmann's team has left a lot to be desired in recent months.
In Munich, less than 100 days before the start, people are still dreaming of a new edition of the “Summer Fairy Tale”.
A total of six games will take place in Munich.
It is not ruled out that the German team will return for a second game (see list below).
“The tingling sensation is increasing,” explained Third Mayor Verena Dietl (SPD) at a press event on Wednesday (March 6th).
“Football has the unifying factor that our society needs.” Being able to host the opening game of the tournament is a great honor.
The city is providing a total of 21 million euros for the EM accompanying program.
European Football Championship 2024 in Munich: Fan zone in the Olympic Park with public viewing
As was the case at the 2006 World Cup, the fan zone in the Olympic Park will be the central contact point for supporters.
All 51 European Championship games will be broadcast live.
A 120 square meter screen will float on the Olympic Lake.
There is also a 36 square meter screen at the Theatron and one (21 square meter) on Hans-Jochen-Vogel-Platz.
Olympiapark boss Marion Schöne hopes for a million visitors during the 31 days of the European Championship.
Many thousands of Scots are expected in Munich for the opening match on June 14th.
The Olympic Park should become “a meeting place, a European place,” explained Schöne.
With the Flying Fox from the Olympiaberg to the fan zone: not a cheap pleasure
“Visitors can expect a diverse, entertaining and free program with music, culture, art, infotainment and many interactive and sporting offers,” it says on the Olympic Park’s homepage.
30 bands of various genres have been announced, including Münchener Freiheit and Moop Mama.
The so-called Flying Fox is said to offer a “breathtaking view including an adrenaline rush”.
Fans can take a zip line from the summit of the Olympic Mountain to the meadow in front of the Olympic swimming pool.
400 meters long, up to 50 km/h fast.
“An experience you won’t soon forget,” says the Olympic Park website.
However, one that is not exactly cheap.
Tickets for adults cost 29 euros.
The Flying Fox is one of the attractions in the fan zone.
