What if you opted for a perfume with the smell of fries?

On Wednesday, McDonald's Japan posted a visual on its X account (formerly Twitter) similar to an advertisement for a perfume, accompanied by the caption "We made a perfume that smells like potatoes!"

Please come on the day of the release date.”

The ad shows a woman, wearing a richly decorated earring and red lipstick, spraying herself with a bottle of perfume, very inspired by the packaging of fries from the famous fast food restaurant.

Two other bottles are also visible, resembling the packaging of the fast food chain's products.

McFries or garlic and black pepper mayonnaise?

According to the Japanese translations, spotted by 20 Minutes and BFMTV, three different flavors are offered: the classic salty McFries, the “seaweed salt and nori plum” fragrance and finally the garlic and black pepper mayonnaise scent, which takes on the identity of “Shaka Shaka Potatoes”, a product exclusively sold by McDonald’s in Japan.

So is this a prank or a real marketing operation?

The announcement was shared by the official account of the Japanese branch of the fast food restaurant.

This is not the first time that the latter has offered atypical collaborations.

For the 50th anniversary of the Hello Kitty franchise, customers could collect 50 toys by purchasing a Happy Meal.

In 2020, the fast-food chain launched scented candles, each of which took on the smell of the ingredients of “Royal Cheese”, from ketchup to bread, including pickles.
