Highlights: Ireland Week returns to Milan and also to Rome - Lombardy. Dance, music, cinema, gastronomy, exhibitions and workshops, free of charge. A photographic exhibition entitled "Ireland on the road" will be set up en plein air in via Dante. Traditional music and dances will be even more present in the city and every day they will bring Irish rhythms to Via Dante and MM Garibaldi. The Hard Rock Café will host a tribute concert to the Cranberries on Tuesday 12th March.

returns , even richer in events and activities and this year

it will not only be in Milan but also in the capital

, with a first version of the initiative, organized by the Embassy of 'Ireland in Italy.

Dance, music, cinema, gastronomy, photographic exhibitions, travel talks and interactive workshops, free of charge.

A piece of Ireland will literally be present in Milan

.

A photographic exhibition entitled "Ireland on the road" will be set up en plein air in via Dante and among the most beautiful innovations of the 2024 edition will be the "Experience Ireland" open-door day, scheduled for the 10th March, the day on which Ireland Week kicks off: a free-access experiential day at Open, a multimedia space in Porta Romana, which from the morning from 11.30am to 7pm will host tastings, workshops, travel talks, dance, music, art with a focus on Northern Ireland. 

The well-known Northern Irish artist Adrian Margey will be present, with a "live performance" that will give life to a work about Belfast and his personal interpretation of the Belfast 2024 cultural festival.

Among the guests arriving directly from the Emerald Isle will be representatives of the Irish tourism industry: Aran Island Ferries, Bakehouse, EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum, Kylemore Abbey Powerscourt Distillery, The Chocolate Manor and The Spirit Circle and from Italy Gen d'Ys (Irish dancing academy).  

The key word will be "interaction" interpreted during the workshops dedicated, among other things, to the art of Irish-style bread, traditional dance steps, sensorial tastings of spirits and chocolate.

And those who are particularly curious will even be able to brush up on English through music, learn a bit of Irish Gaelic with exceptional teachers from the Aran Islands, and discover how to weave the Cross of Saint Brigid, a very important patron saint for the history of Ireland and extraordinary female figure, whose 1500th anniversary of death marks 2024.

There will also be Travel Talks and children will also have a special place, with workshops created just for them with a dedicated kids corner.

Sustainability in the foreground - 

Also in 2024, love for the environment, an important value for the entire island of Ireland, will be at the center of attention, with the two events "Ghe pensi mi, special Ireland" in collaboration with We Are Urban, dedicated to clean-up activities to raise citizens' awareness of the issue of environmental sustainability while giving an Irish touch.

Sunday 10th “Ghe pensi mi cultura” at the Church of San Cristoforo, with a musical finale and Sunday 17th March “Ghe pensi mi green” in Parco Sempione, for plogging activities after which a tasting of typical products will follow.

Traditional music and dances in the open air - 

Traditional music and dances will be even more present in the city and every day they will bring Irish rhythms to Via Dante and MM Garibaldi, with the famous Buskers and groups of expert dancers, also ready to involve some passerby who wants to learn.

The Hard Rock Café will host a tribute concert to the Cranberries on Tuesday 12th March and a tribute concert to U2 on Thursday 14th.

Furthermore, homage to the rhythms of tradition at the Old Fox Pub, also involved in the gastronomic event, on 11 and 17 March, as well as at the Spirit de Milan, which also in 2024 on the St Patrick's weekend (15-17 March ) will host

Spirit of Ireland

, a festival that celebrates Ireland with Irish music, dance, culture and products.

As per tradition, the famous Irish pub, Pogue Mahone's Pub, organizes numerous initiatives during St. Patrick's Day, including a brunch with Irish dishes, live music from 3.30pm to 9pm and DJ sets from 10pm.

Ireland Film Festival, Irish passion - 

The island of Ireland is recognized as the protagonist of cinema and TV: its spectacular scenery is the backdrop for the filming of great directors, for blockbuster films such as Star Wars, Spirits of the Island or famous Game of Thrones TV saga, just to name a few of the most recent ones.

Therefore, the traditional Irish cinema festival could not be missed, in the prestigious cinema of the Anteo Palazzo Del Cinema, which will host the screenings and the calendar will offer the possibility of seeing masterpieces in the original language such as: The Quiet Girl (11 March),

Mary and the Spirit of Midnight

A Taste of Ireland Food Festival

with over 40 participating restaurants - 

Over 40 restaurants and gastro-pubs have joined the second edition of the Taste of Ireland Food Festival.

In fact, the discovery journey dedicated to Irish flavors, created in collaboration with the Italian headquarters of Bord Bia – Irish Food Board, will start on March 10th.

The event will involve selected restaurants, which will include an Irish dish interpreted by the chef on the menu.

You will therefore have the opportunity to taste the flavors and quality raw materials that the Island of Ireland is able to offer.

Sports for all tastes: rugby, Gaelic football and golf - 

In the St. Patrick's weekend, sport will play an important part not only because Ireland Week coincides with the final phase of the Six Nations rugby tournament, which on Saturday 16 March will on the big screens of various pubs taking part in the event.

In the foreground there will be two other more authentic expressions of the noble Irish sporting tradition: Gaelic football, with a junior and a senior match, taking place on 16 March at AS Rugby Milano, and golf with the first two stages, the 16 and 17 March, of the “Golf in Ireland” tournament, at the Molinetto Golf Club and at the Brianza Golf Club, organized in collaboration with I Viaggi di Seve, which will end in October 2024: the first prize for the winners will be a trip to Ireland to play on some of the most beautiful courses in the world.
