In Jerusalem
As the Gaza Strip plunges into a crisis of unprecedented proportions, dozens of foreign employees of humanitarian organizations are forced to work illegally in Israel.
Their visa has not been renewed since the start of the war.
This is the case for Jane*.
Arriving in Jerusalem at the end of the summer with her husband and school-aged children, she planned to spend a year there on behalf of an NGO.
Like all foreign employees, she requests, before her arrival, a letter of introduction from the Ministry of Social Affairs.
Upon landing, she received a three-month tourist visa at Ben-Gurion airport.
Equipped with her letter of recommendation, she must then obtain a one-year work visa from the Ministry of the Interior.
But things don't go as planned.
