Brandenburg's Interior Minister Michael Stübgen (CDU) assessed the threat situation on Friday morning in a school in Petershagen, east of Berlin, as very dangerous.
A shooting spree could probably have been prevented, he said on Friday in Potsdam.
“This is not a false alarm.”
Petershagen - An armed perpetrator threatened teachers at the comprehensive school in Petershagen on Friday morning.
He was then caught shortly after the emergency call, said Stübgen.
He praised quick and careful action at school and by specially trained police forces.
The attacker and a police officer were slightly injured.
According to the current state of the investigation, the perpetrator acted alone; he had a gun and a knife with him, as Stübgen said, who did not provide any further details.
He spoke of a “firearm-like” object.”
The police announced in the morning that it was a blank gun.
The minister did not provide any information about the man's motive.
