Will the Montmartre hill soon join the banks of the Seine on the UNESCO world heritage list?
This is the ambition of the young “Montmartre World Heritage” association, which has given itself until September to submit an application to the Ministry of Culture.
Created in November 2022 by three Montmartres, it takes up the torch of a wish expressed in 2019 by local elected officials and immediately adopted by the Paris Council.
At the initiative of this idea, Éric Lejoindre, mayor (PS) of the 18th arrondissement, welcomes this “handing over” to civil society, which “anchors the candidacy in the territory”.
And the councilor to ensure “moral and financial support” from the town hall in the months to come.
